by the Imperial Porcelain Factory, period of Nicholas II, 1899, with later blue-black overglaze State Porcelain Factory mark of hammer, sickle and cog, dated 1921, with unidentified artist's Cyrillic initials Ar.V.
Circular, The Bellringer, inscribed on reverse in Russian After a design by [Alexandra] Shchekotikhina[-Pototskaya], the centre of the plate painted with the image of the bearded bellringer with crossed arms and bell ropes, within a black band, the yellow border with black rim, marked under base
9 5/8 in. (24.3 cm.) diam.
