Modelled as a horse-drawn chariot surmounted by a winged cupid holding a palm leaf, the wheel incorporating the white enamelled Roman dial and twin-barrel movement, above a rectangular base decorated with a relief panel depicting mythological scenes, on toupie feet

Celebrating Love's triumph, this charming clock is of a very successful model of which several examples are known, including one illustrated in H. Ottomeyer, P. Pröschel, et al., Vergoldete Bronzen, Munich, 1986, vol.I, p. 354 and another illustrated in P. Kjellberg, Encyclopédie de la Pendule Française, Paris, 1997, p. 416.
