A silver commemoration goblet, 19th century
the stem cast as entwined bamboo and chrysanthemum sprays issuing from rockwork on a domed circular base,the inscription reads:
'to Capt. J. Blackburne, Str. Nanshan, the Master, Passengers and the Crew of the junk 'Sun Hop Lee' present this to you as a token of their gratitude for saving them from distress. Hong Kong, 10th July 1887', followed by four character Cantonese inscription, the reverse with two line Cantonese inscription, two stamped marks to foot -- 8in. (20.2cm) high; and a related export oil painting, 19th century, depicting the S.S Nanshan -- 10¼in. x 14¼in. (26cm x 36cm), framed. (2)
