Circular, the detachable cover engraved with a depiction of the Royal George above an inscription, engraved with another inscription under the base, contained in a later fitted case, marked inside and inside cover, the later case labelled 'Tessier Ltd. 26 New Bond St. London'

The inscriptions read: 'THE ROYAL GEORGE Quiberon Bay' and 'To Sir Edward Hawke, KB on his succession to the post of FIRST LORD OF THE ADMIRALTY December 1766 in rememberance of his great skill and courage at the BATTLE OF QUIBERON BAY on November 20th 1759 a token Gift from his then CAPTAIN JOHN EVANS of his FLAGSHIP THE ROYAL GEORGE Presented in this Year of our Lord 1666'
