Circular, the detachable cover set with a miniature of a child in a white dress with frill collar within a border of white enamel beads and outer bands of foliage and flowers, the sides and base set with panels of multi-coloured aventurine glass, the inside lined with tortoiseshell, marked on bezel, the cover apparently unmarked

Lot Essay

An aventurine glass bonbonnière by Jean-François Delanoy (fl. 1785-1793) bearing the discharge marks of Henry Clavel 1782-1789, from the Collection of Dr Anton C. R. Dreesmann, was sold Christie's, London, 11 April 2002, lot 905.
