The present work was inspired when Barker visited his parents on Sunday September 11th 1966. Barker says 'My Dad used to buy the News of the World and the headlines that day really caught me eye. Verdict for Hanging - particuarly.' (Clive Barker, private correspondence, 12th October 2005)
