woodengraving printed in colours, 1952, on Japan, signed in pencil, inscribed eigen druk, with margins, pale mountstaining, a minor gluestain and a foxmark in the right margin, the sheet edges taped to the mount by strips of white papertape, otherwise generally in very good condition, framed

Provenance
This print was a gift from the artist to the father of the present owner. The woodengraving was a reward for the father's contribution to the execution of the column which Escher designed for Provinciale Waterstaat in Haarlem. The model for this column was sold at Christie's in Amsterdam on 1 December 1998 as lot 407.
