Purdey retail number A1228, double set-triggers, retaining most original blueing and hardening-colour, figured carbine-stock with pistolgrip, pistolgrip-cap, cheek-piece and butt-plate (with trap), sling-swivels, barrel with open-sights and ramp-mounted bead-foresight, the receiver mounted with a K. Kahles 'Mignon' 4X telescopic-sight in quickly-detachable mounts

Weight 7lb. 5½oz. (with 'scope), 14 5/8in. pull, 19¾in. barrel, nitro proof

Guns, rifles and pistols by other makers which were supplied by Purdey's to their clients were given an 'A' prefix and four digit serial number. Purdey records confirm that this rifle was retailed by them in 1912. The telescope has quickly-detachable mounts and a tunnel in the front mount permits alternative use of the open-sights with the telescope mounted
