COMPARATIVE LITERATURE:
Nicholas Penny, European Sculpture in the Ashmolean Museum, 1540 to the Present Day, Clarendon Press 1992, volume III, p.95. Joseph Gott (1786-1860) carved a comparable bust of Isis after the original version in the Sala dei Busti of the Museo Pio-Clementino in the Vatican. Gott's version was probably acquired in Rome in 1851 by C.D.E Fortnum.
