The firm of Nardi was founded by Giulio Nardi on the Piaza San Marco in Venice in 1820. Today in addition to their Venetian location, they have a branch at 17 Piazetta Pedrocchi in Padua. They are particularily celibrated for their 'Moretto' or blackamoor brooches which were iniciated in 1930. Today they continue to be directed by Alberto Nardi, the third generation to run the company
