PRISTINE BORDEAUX AND MORE FROM TWO LIFETIME COLLECTORS OF FINE AND RARE WINE
Recently removed by Christie's from a temperature and humidity controlled, subterranean private home cellar

This cellar was painstakingly assembled over several decades and stored with careful attention by a couple with a lifelong passion for fine wine and living well. Many more bottles and cases were enjoyed over time, with friends, family and each other. The lots before you represent a highly personal selection with great memories associated with their purchase, their parentage and their eventual uncorking. Highlights include remaining bottles of the great 1959 Haut Brion, some classified claret verticals and a delicious mixed lot of Ramonet. Rounding out the collection are rare vintage Taylor Ports, 1945 and 1948. Expectedly the levels and overall conditions of the wines are excellent, in fact above average for their age.
Château Haut-Brion--Vintage 1959
Pessac (Graves), 1er cru classé
Levels: one 4.0cm, two 4.5cm; all bin soiled labels
"Most recently, by a short head the best wine at La Réserve's Haut-Brion/La Mission tasting: a wonderful gradation of colour; showing age but sweet and mellow, with a lovely edge-of-honeycomb scent after an hour in the glass. A positive, sweet entry and soft. All the component parts working in harmony. Last tasted June 2000 *****" MB, Vintage Wine
