Lot Essay

Although very few drawings by Bosschaert are known, the present work can be compared to a highly finished Study of Saint Gregory reading now in the Lugt Collection at the Fondation Custodia, Paris (Flemish drawings of the Seventeenth Century in the Collection of Frits Lugt, exhib. cat., London, Victoria and Albert Museum, and elsewhere, 1972, no. 124, pl. 79).
