Lot Essay

We are grateful to Marijke de Kinkelder of the RKD for confirming the attribution to Jacob Salomonsz. van Ruysdael.
His landscapes were much influenced by the art of his father Salomon van Ruysdael and his cousin Jacob van Ruisdael. He is recorded as working in Amsterdam by 1666, but died insane some years later in the Haarlem workhouse.
