The case resting on bun feet with foliate marquetry to the upper spandrels, similar marquetry to the rectangular trunk door, spoon-and-lock to the rising hood with brass-capped columns and flat top, the 9in. square dial with narrow silvered twice-XII chapter ring, matted centre with outer concentric calendar ring and inner phase and age of moon, all hands of blued steel, winged cherub spandrels, the movement with eight ring-turned double screwed pillars, Vulliamy-type deadbeat escapement with beat adjustment, barrel through to centre wheel pivots in screwed chatons, single pulley with long bar suspending two brass-cased weights
