First 8 words of title engraved within a cartouche of dolphins and fish, 10 engravings of fish in text, 2 pages (214-215, P3v-P4r) of words and music for "The Angler's Song," the bass voice printed upside down, 3 woodcut initials and head and tail ornaments. (Second title cropped at bottom with loss of imprint, some headlines cropped, some browning and soiling.) 18th-century blind tooled calf (cover detached). Provenance: B.E. Juel-Jensen (bokplate).
Third edition. Except for a few changes, the third edition is almost identical to the second. Along with several small textual changes, the John 21.3 quotation has been removed from the title-page and the "C" of "Complete" in the running headlines are now all similar. "The Lawes of Angling" here are added for the first time, printed in gothic type. The third edition was reissued in 1664, the only difference being in the substituton of a new title-page.
