FIRST CORRECTED EDITION, preceded by the inaccurate version of 1698. This edition was published under direction of D.V. Denon with engravings by L.P. Baltard and A. le Grand, illustrated by very large engravings based on Le Brun's drawings. Le Brun's original notes were discovered at the beginning of the nineteenth century, reviving interest in his work. The work is rare, with no copies appearing in American Book Prices Current in at least 30 years.
