Contemporary red morocco gilt, covers with gilt borders centering the arms of Napoleon (Olivier 2652), edges gilt, blue watered silk linings (some light rubbing at ends of spine, a few small repairs); modern cloth slipcase. Provenance: Napoleon I (binding); given to Jane Engelhard by Charles Ryskamp on the occasion of her acquisition of the Louisiana Purchase, note laid in: "[This book] shows the immediate result of the Louisiana Purchase: no longer is it included in the "postes et relais de l'empire Français."
