2o (298 x 220 mm). Collation: [110 2-2310.8 246 25-3610.8 37-3910 408 4110 42-438]. 386 leaves. 41 lines and foliation, double column in table. Gothic types 5:136 (headings and foliation) 4:96 (text). Capital spaces. Rubricated with 8-line Lombard initial in red, numerous smaller red Lombard initials many flourished, red paragraph mark and capital strokes, red scroll border supplied to colophon at end. (Marginal repairs, tears, small holes or stains to folios 6, 16, 119, 197, 201, 220, 247, 262). Contemporary TEGERNSEE blindstamped pigskin over wooden boards, two catch plates, (clasps and metal furniture missing). Provenance: Conrad Koeppel (inscription dated 1480 on vellum sheet pasted to front free endpaper); Tegernsee, Benedictine Monastary (inscription); Munich, Royal Library (old ink stamps, presented to); The Historical Society of Pennsylvania (bookplate, dated 1861, and old ink stamp in numerous places).
Fourth edition, of the Vitas partum BOUND IN A CONTEMPORARY TEGERNSEE BINDING. An important characteristic is the provenance note that is found in most of the Tegernsee bindings from that period. (See Schunke Die Schwenke-Sammlung p. 250). After the reformation the library, that contained about 60,000 volumes, 6600 incunabula, and more than 2000 manuscripts, was incorporated in part in the National Library at Munich.
