The first with mokume stem and gilt gourd-shaped bowl, the second with copper and niello stem of geometric patterns and plum blossom, with gilt bowl, the reverse of each bowl engraved with a crest and initial W, each marked on reverse

A rare example of mokume spoon imitating wood graining and a niello and copper coffee spoon are illustrated in William P. Hood, Tiffany Silver Flatware 1845-1905: When Dining was an Art, 1999, p. 287 and 291. Two niello and copper spoons of the same pattern sold at Christie's, New York, 19-20 January 1990, part lot 145.
