Lot Essay

As cited in the Skinner catalogue, these two heads were part of the architectural detail on the Crary Mansion in Binghamton, New York, built in 1897 (Elfred H. Bartoo, architect. From 1904 to 1964, it was the home of Columbian Insurance Co but was torn down in 1964. Possibly illustrated in Marjory B. Hinman, Lost Landmarks of Broome County.
