Lot Essay

This figure appears, with differences to the upper part of the body, in at least four altarpieces from Perugino's studio, two of The Assumption of the Virgin (in the Church of the Santissima Annunziata, Florence, and Santa Maria, Corciano), and two of The Ascension (Musée de Beaux-Arts, Lyon, and in the Duomo, San Sepolcro, P. Scarpellini, Perugino, Milan, 1984, nos. 145, 165, 74 and 153).
