Lot Essay

These three views are from a dismembered album used by van Goyen on a journey through south-eastern Holland and north-western Germany in 1650-1. Thirty drawings from the album were in the collection of Carel Goldschmidt, sold in these Rooms, 12 January 1995, lots 220-249.
