Lot Essay

After the fresco of the Parnassus painted by Raphael in 1509-10 in the Stanza della Segnatura, Palazzi Pontifici, Vatican.
The artist of the present lot might be identified as W. or R. Child, who exhibited at the Royal Academy in London between 1783 and 1788.
