A SILVERED-METAL-MOUNTED ENAMEL AND WOOD BOX
APPARENTLY UNMARKED, 1905
Rectangular and on four bun feet, with metal mounts, the hinged cover with transluscent foliate scroll decorated red enamel limoges-style plaque, centring an opalescent medallion with a cypher below a coronet, within a green enamelled husk border, the corners set with moonstones, the interior dated 'XII 1905 VIII'
3½ in. (9 cm.) long
The cypher is that of Princess Marie-Louise of Schleswig-Holstein (1872-1956), second daughter of Prince Christian of Schleswig-Holstein (1831-1917) and Princess Helena (1846-1923), 3rd daughter of Queen Victoria.
