MARK OF SEBASTIAN CRESPEL II, LONDON, 1836
Octagonal, on conforming stepped base, the sides pierced with scroll-work, and scroll handle with pierced thumbpiece joined to the cover, the hinged cover engraved with an initial 'M' with Royal Princess' coronet above, with blue glass liner, marked underneath and inside cover

The initial is for Princess Mary, Duchess of Gloucester (1776-1857), eldest daughter of King George III (1760-1820), who married her cousin Prince William, Duke of Gloucester (1766-1834) in 1816.
