Carved with oak leaves, roses, thistles and shamrocks, the top carved 'V.R.I' with a crown above and inscribed 'ALL HALE TO OUR QUEEN OF SIXTY YEARS 37-97', the underside of the lower tier with a paper label indistinctly inscribed in ink 'J.E. L...TON(?)'

Lot Essay

The Elizabethan-fashioned table is carved with the Victoria Regina Imperatrix cipher, and wreathed by a commemorative inscription celebrating Queen Victoria's Jubilee together with oaks and a garland comprised of the United Kingdom's floral badges.
