The first work with 4 folding engraved plates; the second with advertisements. (Light scattered spotting.) Contemporary quarter calf (extremities rubbed, spine chipped, joints split). Provenance: William Charles De Meuron, 7th Earl Fitzwilliam (1872-1943, bookplate). FIRST ENGLISH TRANSLATION of La Fosse's Observations et découvertes faites sur des cheveaux (1754), which includes a discussion of the anatomy of the horse's foot, bound with the second London edition of Osmer's Treatise. CLARK, James. A Treatise on the Prevention of Diseases incidental to Horses. Edinburgh: W. Smellie for the author, 1788. 8° (225 x 140mm). (Light soiling, occasional spotting, short tear in F3.) Original boards, uncut and partly unopened, spine lettered in manuscript (corners rubbed, front joint split, light soiling). FIRST EDITION. Three further editions were published by 1805, and a German translation in 1790. Huth p.53. With 9 others including: W. Osmer, A Dissertation on Horse (1756); J.
