(Dampstain with some loss in top margin of last few leaves, not affecting text.) Contemporary calf, sides and spine gilt-ruled (corners rubbed, front joint starting, spine head chipped). Provenance: Stonor (bookplate, small leather case label on spine). FIRST EDITION of Reeves's popular treatise, which saw three further editions in the 18th-century. Not in Mellon/Podeschi.

FIRST ENGLISH TRANSLATION of La Fosse's Observations et découvertes faites sur des cheveaux (1754), which includes a discussion of the anatomy of the horse's foot, bound with the second London edition of Osmer's Treatise. Original boards, uncut and partly unopened, spine lettered in manuscript (corners rubbed, front joint split, light soiling). FIRST EDITION.
