125 volumes (I-CXXV), 8 ° (210 x 132mm). Plates, mostly portraits, many steel-engraved, numerous illustrations. Contemporary half calf gilt, bound to match, spines in six compartments with raised bands, red morocco lettering-piece in the second compartment, green morocco in the third, the others with repeat decoration of a a large hunting 'trophy' tool with surrounding small tools. Provenance: Sir William G. Pearce (bookplate in vols.I-LXXXVI).

A FINE SET, RARELY FOUND COMPLETE and here bound to match in fine half calf bindings. Valuable both as a contemporary record of the season's sport of all kinds, but also for the detailed biographies and fine portraits of the famous sportsmen of the era. The early run of the bindings are unsigned, the middle section was bound by the Hatchard's bindery, whilst the latest volumes are by Morrell. (125)
