2° (260 x 176mm). Printed in red and black, black letter, woodcut plate and illustrations in the text, plate of facsimiles. (Some very light browning). Contemporary blue morocco in restoration style by W. Strong, richly tooled in gilt, red morocco inlays, wide gilt turn-ins, red watered silk doublures and endpapers, gilt and finely gauffered edges.
ONE OF 150 COPIES, the first 'modern' reprint of the earliest English sporting book, in a suitably ornate binding by Strong (Ramsden, p.136 and plate XXIV, illustrates another of Strong's 17th-century pastiche bindings). Schwerdt I, p.63: 'This work contains bibliographical notices and a list of known editions of the Book of St. Albans, which are fully described'.
