Oblong 2°, (585 x 440mm). 1 hand-coloured lithographic plate with an appendix on the anatomical knowledge of the horse, followed by 36 hand-coloured lithographic plates with uncoloured borders divided into 6 sections each with lithographed title page, Introduction; Haras; Equitation; Chevaux de Trait; Chevaux de Course; and Chevaux de Chasse (light spotting to most plates, discolouration and browning to title pages, discolouration to the borders of plate 4.) Original 19th century half cream cloth with marble boards, spine titled in gilt (edges worn, some soiling to spine and corners).
An attractive series of lithographic prints depicting aspects of equine life comprising six sections, with sketches of the different types of horses for breeding, racing, riding, coaching and hunting.
