This work is sold with a photo-certificate from the Comité Marc Chagall.

Chagall executed 96 etchings for Tériade's 1948 edition of Les âmes mortes by Nicolas Gogol. This work is executed on the reverse of the justification and the title pages of the copy number 207, which is signed by the artist.
