in 3/8in. scale and built with a fiberglass-reinforced resin hull with black painted topsides, red cabin structures and planked wood planked decks. Detailed with pilot house and cabin, complete internal pilot house detail; opening doors and windows; bow and side fenders, the bulkheads and fittings are brass. The Harrisburg's accompanying 100-foot carfloat can accommodate up to four Gauge 1 freight cars on two tracks with a wood-planked loading dock between them. Like the tug, it has a fiberglass-reinforced resin hull and brass superstructure and details, plus a canvas loading dock roof, hand-laid rails, removable wheel chocks and other details.
25½ x 47 in. (64.7 x 119.4 cm.) cased dimensions tugboat, 11½ x 43½ in. (29.2 x 110.5 cm.) cased dimensions barge.

Lot Essay

The tugboat Harrisburg operated in New York Harbor from 1900 until 1963. It was one of a class of 100-foot steam-powered tugs used by the Pennsylvania Railroad for ferrying carfloats around the harbor. She is accompanied by a 100 foot car float.
