Half titles, 2 mounted half tone frontispieces, 12 mounted coloured plates, half tone plates, The Antarctic Book with 4 mounted coloured portraits and 6 etched plates (some light spotting to titles and their tissue guards, a few very light mainly marginal spots through the text, some rather heavier and more persistent spotting to The Antarctic Book). Original vellum gilt, upper covers with illustration of 2 penguins stamped in gilt, spines lettered in gilt, The Antarctic Book in original vellum-backed paper boards, top edges gilt, others uncut, silk ties (some very light staining and scuffing to boards). Provenance: Repton School Library, Griffiths Bequest (bookplate) -- "Confined to the Librarian's Room" (pencil inscription on front pastedowns). Without library stamps or any other signs of provenance.
