AN ARTICULATED FAN
the leaf painted with a gentleman placing a wreath on the head of a lady riding a goat, with a tower beyond, the verso with a dovecote, the ivory sticks carved with putti, pierced and gilt, the upper guardstick set with a miniature of a man with a hunting horn, when a concealled lever is slid down he raises the horn to his mouth, the lower guardstick with a miniature of a lady with a mask which she raises to hide her face when the lever is slid down, each miniature covered in mica,--10.5in. (27cm), French, circa 1775 (two sticks repaired)
