In the centre the arms of Scholten of Amsterdam impaling Hogenberg, between spearhead and floral chain motif borders among flowering branches and lingzhi, rim cracks to the cup (2)

Lot Essay

The arms are those of Scholten, of Amsterdam, impaling Hogenberg, see J.B. Rietstap, Armorial General, pp.721 & 969. A charger from this service and a part tea-service were sold in our New York Rooms, 22 January 2002, lot 179 and 20 January 2004, lot 209.
