The coat-of-arms supported to either side by a lion and beneath a royal crown, within a border of cornucopiae, sheafs of wheat and with crowned initials MJ to each corner

Lot Essay

Maximilian Joseph (1756-1825) became Kurfürst von Bayern (Maximilian IV. Joseph) in 1799. In 1806 he became King of Bavaria, the coat-of- arms on the present napkin are the first Royal coat-of-arms of Bavaria as introduced in 1806.
