The lamps, with their 'pineapple' fonts or urn-capped pillars may have been retailed from the Strand warehouse of William Collins, celebrated as 'Glass Manufacturer' to George IV, while their Grecian palm-flowered pillars were manufactured by Messrs. Johnston, Brookes, Hector and Davidson, Brass-founders and Lamp-manufacturers of New Street Square. Collins employed the latter on occasion, such as lights supplied in 1823 for the 3rd Duke of Northumberland.
