Details
Beringer Vineyards
The winery established by brothers Jacob and Frederick Beringer in 1876 is the oldest continuously operating winery in the Napa Valley. Having come to America from Germany Frederick built what is now the hospitality center as his residence to re-create the family home on the Rhine River in Germany. Know as the "Rhine House" it is now on the National Register of Historic Places
Beringer Vineyards owns and/or manages several thousand acres of vineyard land which includes 17 distinct vineyards in the Napa Valley growing region. The original St. Helena Home Vineyard is still being farmed and often grapes from this vineyard are blended into the Beringer Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon.
Beringer, under the guidance of winemaker Ed Sbragia, has won two Wine Spectator "Wine of the Year" awards in 1990 and 1996.
