Lot Essay

Princess Victoria Adelaide Mary Louise was the eldest daughter of Queen Victoria and her consort Prince Albert. In 1841, she was created Princess Royal of the United Kingdom. She became Empress consort in Germany and Queen of Prussia by her marriage to Emperor Friedrich III, with whom she had eight children.

Princess Irene (1866-1953) married her first cousin H.R.H. Prince Friedrich of Prussia, the second son of Victoria, Princess Royal and the German Emperor, Friedrich III.
