Lot Essay

Togo belongs to the Ayakashi family of masks and was created in the late Muromachi by the mask carver Togo. It became a signature prop of the Kita school of Noh actors in the mid-Edo period. It is used to represent strong gods and the spirits of warriors seeking revenge.
