Carved with characteristic curlicue mane and raised flames emanating from the eyes, tail and haunches, the drapery patterned with floral arabesques in white and red and the whole with traces of red, white, green and black pigment

One of the "Four Animals," the haet'ae is a mythical lion-dog charged with protecting the Choson-period home from fire.
