Lot Essay

A Hongzhi-marked yellow-glazed bowl of slightly larger size (18.5 cm. diam.) in the Palace Museum, Beijing, is illustrated in The Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum - 37 - Monochrome Porcelain, Hong Kong, 1999, p. 43, no. 38. Another Hongzhi-marked example, also of larger size (20.3 cm. diam.), from the Dr. and Mrs. E. T. Hall Collection, was included in the exhibition catalogue, The Ceramic Art of China, The Victoria and Albert Museum, London, 1971, no. 161.
