Lot Essay

This charming little sculpture would likely have been associated with a larger figure of a deity as an attendant figure; compare with the important large bronze figure with hands joined above the head at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, in M. Lerner and S. Kossak, The Arts of South and Southeast Asia, 1994, fig. 84, p. 81.
