The scrolled arms carved with seated putti playing flutes and supported by semi-draped female figures with guilloche and rosette carved seat rails and turned foliate carved legs, joined by shaped stretchers

Lot Essay

Although of much later date, the carved figures adorning the arms of this chair are clearly inspired by the the work of the Venetian carver Andrea Brustolon, who produced a number of important suites of furniture, including one now in the Palazzo Rezzonico, Venice, and another in the Palazzo Quirinale, Rome.
