Lot Essay

The Hamburg firm of H.F.C. Rampendahl has been credited with the manufacture of a suite of similar rustic chairs of stag-horn, embellished with bone and teeth, that was introduced in 1846 at the Royal Pavilion, Osborne. See M.Turner, Osborne House 1995, and S.Jervis, Furniture in Horn and Antler, The Connoisseur, November 1977, p.190.
