Lot Essay

This table exhibits a number of unconventional features, not least the bulbous projections on the base, each representing the head of a bolt which secures the opposing leg in a form of 'knock-down' construction. Furthermore the top of the pedestal is inlaid with a chequer board suggesting that it's intended use may have been as a travelling or coaching table, though of unusually sophisticated form.
