inscribed Bostagnÿ/Ein Schimel=Wallach mit zwei weissen Hinterfüssen,wurde im Jahr 1794 im Gestüt des Herren Grafen/von Plessen aus Ivenack von einer Ivenacker/Gestüt=Stute und den englischen Wettläuffer/Hengst Morwick=Ballgezogen./Im Jahr 1802 wurde der Bostagnÿ von Sr Königl=/Hoheit dem Grossherzog von Mecklenburg gekauft/und als Leib=Pferd bis zum Somer 1816 von Hoch=denenselben geritten:er starb den 9ten Oct:1816/am einen Nervenschlage, der einige Tage vor=/her, nach der Rückkehr von Dobberan/eingetreten war. Lot Essay

The grey depicted in the present lot, raised in the stables of Count von Plessen from Ivenack, was acquired by Friedrich Franz I, Grand Duke of Mecklenburg-Schwerin in 1802. He is known to have been the favourite horse of the Grand Duke because of his great liveliness.
