Lot Essay

We are grateful to Fred Meijer at the RKD for reviewing a transparency of the present work which he believes it to be an autograph work by Teniers. According to the RKD records, this painting was inscribed 'Brouwer' until c. 1935; this inscription has subsequently been cleaned off revealing the 'D. TENIER' signature which is now apparent.
