Lot Essay

Born in Mons on 19 May 1650, Albert Wery specialized in landscape paintings and shows an influence of Poussin in his compositions, which often contain waterfalls and ruins. He painted four works for the Town Hall of Mons, one in 1719 and three others in 1724, he also painted for a Carmelite in the same city. Another signed painting is recorded in the Raspail collection, Brussels by 1866.
