La Grand Rue was raised to a grand cru in 1992 and a monopole of Lamarche; after a down period when the vineyard went a bit wild, technology and investment have vastly improved the wines. It is not poorly located being a small sliver of land wedged among La Tache, Romanee Conti, and Romanee St. Vivant.
